Senior Companion Program
Visiting Nurse Association's Senior Companions assist seniors and handicapped adults in their homes throughout Butler, Pemiscot, Dunklin and New Madrid Counties in Southeast Missouri.
Companions can be additional help for In-Home clients regardless of their income status. They assist with grocery shopping, bill paying, local transportation, respite and many other daily living tasks. Everyone needs a friend!!
Adults 60 years or older receive a non-taxable stipend to supplement their social security income in exchange for up to twenty hours per week of service. These experienced workers offer support to frail adults and encourage them to regain their health and independence. Continued involvement in the community enhances the lives of both the Companions and their clients.
SPONSORSHIPS AVAILABLE: This program is funded by federal grant money with matching funds from VNA in Dunklin, New Madrid and Pemiscot Counties. Funding in Butler County comes from the Senior Tax Fund. Services can be provided in the other 10 counties of the VNA service area when a local funding source can be identified.
